Oneida County Freedom Trail Commission Underground Railroad and Abolition Walking Tour

The Mid Utica Neighborhood Preservation Corp. (MUNPC) & Ms. Robbie Dancy present their 9th Annual Juneteenth/African American Heritage Weekend Celebration.
Juneteenth short for “June Nineteenth” / “African American Independence Day” commemorates the official end of slavery in the United States in 1865 when union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all enslaved people knew they were free. It marked a full two and half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
In honor of Juneteenth and in celebration of African American heritage, unity, culture and pride, MUNPC has organized the following events:
